  • Solo female mid thirties with one dog. Stayed mid May for 1 night (Saturday to sunday). I will preface this review by stating that I used to live in Champaign about 9 years ago. I was in town to see an old friend after being in Bloomington the previous day on business. I actually used to live quite close to this hotel but had no clue it existed until I looked up dog friendly hotels. The reviews on orbitz seemed decent enough and the price was good for my last minute travel plans. Parking lot is a bit of a mess. They had some construction or refurbishment going on and the parking lots, walkways and driveways were sometimes closed off. I had to park across the street for the night on Saturday, which was fine for me but may be a hassle for others. Check in was fast and easy. I had a room on the 4th floor. Main elevators are out of order (I'm guessing part of the refurbishment), so you have to take the elevator in the back of the hotel (looks like a freight or employee elevator). When I got to my room, there was a strong smell. Not pleasant but also not unpleasant. I opened a window and after 3 hours, it smelled better. ALL wall outlets were torn away from the wall, hanging on by wires. Both outlets in the bedroom by the bed as well as the outlet in the living room area only had ONE working outlet plug for each unit. So, it was either...have a lamp or charge your phone....or have the alarm clock or have a lamp. NOT BOTH. Incredibly frustrating. The bed was comfortable. A.C. unit worked nicely. Did not use the fridge, microwave or coffee maker. Also, there seemed to be a TON of kids wandering around without parents. I get that some families take their kids to a hotel so the kids can have pool time while adults have alone time (these kids ranged from about 12 to 18)....but they were loud and refused to move when I would try to get around them in the hallway. I got woken up 2x by these kids being loud outside my room in the middle of the night (I was asleep by 12am...so anywhere from 12 to 6am). The hotel just seemed kind of grungy and motel like. I wish I had read more reliable reviews in my search. I did tell front desk staff about these concerns when I checked out and they told me to come back after the refurbishment. Meh, there are too many hotels to offer great visits from the first time around. Not sure why I'd go back to a place that can't even offer me reliable and safe electrical outlets.
