Because I had stayed in his hotel previously, I checked first to see what was available when I planned my recent visit to Phoenix. I was gladdened to learn that the hotel had been sold to investors that planned to turn it into central Phoenix's only "boutique hotel." I read every review I could find and have to admit I was fearful. When a ridiculously low rate was quoted on Facebook, I called the hotel directly and asked about the reviews. They admitted that the renovations had taken longer than planned but promised I would have a good experience. They came through! The room (and the rest of the property) looked like the pictures on the Internet. The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom, though small, did all of the things a bathroom is supposed to do. The convenience of being on the light rail, near a large grocer, several restaurants, 2 bus lines, and a couple of bars added to the quality of my experience. I went out at night and suffered no unpleasantness. How can you beat one train from the airport to the front door of the hotel, all for the princely sum of $2.00? Door to door by bus to Scottsdale? I will gladly stay here again...and again....
