  • I want to say first of all that this was just not the studio for me. It's not necessarily a bad studio, but it really wasn't what I expected or wanted from a yoga studio. So I think it would have been helpful if I'd known these things going in. I went to 4 classes before I stopped using my 20-class pass. The not-so-good: 1) I've come from more traditional yoga-only studios, and the terminology they use in this studio is different. The poses are different. They call a side angle pose a triangle pose. I found it confusing. They also don't do most of the traditional yoga poses you'll do in other studios. 2) It is very, very hot. For some people, this is obviously a really great thing. I found it to be like working out in a sauna. I didn't feel safe. I spent half of one class lying on my back, and it was very dim, and I was honestly concerned that if I passed out, it was possible that no one would notice. The teacher highly discourages leaving in the middle of class because she thinks you're more likely to faint at the dramatic change of temperature. She may be right, but I really found it alarming. 3) They do the same series of poses for each class. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I wasn't a fan of the series that I tried. I thought the workout was unusually easy, but I think it had to be because it is such a hot room. There were some good things: 1) They offer consistent morning classes, so you can go before work if that's a priority. 2) The people who go there seem like a family. Particularly the MMA group. That part seemed really neat, and if I ever feel like doing MMA, I'll go there first. 3) There's a good mix of men and women in the class. They are people of differing abilities, and the teachers are very supportive. 4) They offer 20-class passes for $20, so I don't feel like I wasted money even though I couldn't use all 20 classes. I actually did the Living Social deal, which I've seen a few times now. I figured out it wasn't for me, so that was great. Again, this studio is clearly great for some people. It just isn't your typical yoga studio. For you, that might be great. For me, it wasn't right.
