| - Well folks, there really is no better ice cream anywhere. The texture is by far my favorite -- it's so rich and creamy, but it holds together well. I love all of the flavors, although my favorites have shifted over time. I grew up on Mitchell's, and I'm proud to say that I can map out the various phases of my life based on my preferred flavor of Mitchell's of the time. When Mitchell's first opened, in my pre-teen years, it was the sugary, fruity goodness of Cherry Vanilla (which they no longer have, at least on the regular.) From there it was Cookie Dough, then Key Lime Pie, then a period of relative moderation when all I wanted was the Mango sorbet. Eventually I came to realize the absolute perfection of their Butter Pecan. You can taste the brown sugar, and the obscene amount of butter, and the little bit of salt from the nuts. I never even considered Butter Pecan ice cream before I had Mitchell's -- but it puts all other flavors of any ice cream to shame. I'm always excited to try their new/seasonal stuff: most recently they had an olive oil, orange and juniper variety. Definitely a more subtle, grown-up taste -- but you know, I've grown up and so has my favorite ice cream shop. This new store/warehouse in Ohio City is gorgeous, but honestly if the Mitchell's Brothers were serving their goods out of a horse barn I'd still be addicted to it.
