  • A review of Lovelady Brewing presents a real challenge in that it is hard to decide exactly what it is that gives this start up brewery its charm. The family of owners who run the place are, plain and simply, good people. The brewery clearly is the family's pride and joy. That is evidenced by their sincere commitment to making great beer and their warm, laid-backed personalities. One of the nicest things about the family and the brewery is that neither, refreshingly, tries too hard. Both are welcoming without coming on too strong. The decor is nice and the outside patio is a great place to gather. Lovelady offers several of their beers on tap on a rotating basis, as well as in growlers and crowlers. We really like their red ale. Among others, they have a couple of very good sours, IPAs and a very nice stout. Even though the food options are limited (Thanks Nevada State Legislature!) they are working on getting food trucks and local vendors to provide basic pub grub. The cold hard fact is that it isn't their choice not to have a restaurant on site, it is the law. In other words, don't blame them, it's not their fault!!! Several reviewers have voiced their disappointment that there wasn't much to do on Water Street after visiting Lovelady. That's not quite true and not quite fair. One can only imagine what it is like to go all in and take such a giant leap with a business enterprise and land on Water Street in Downtown Henderson. Not only do they need to be a great brewery but they are also expected to be the catalyst to revive Water Street. I am hugely optimistic that Water Street is on the fast track to becoming a vibrant district and that Lovelady will be a big part of that. Water Street already has some great restaurants and fun bars. The real jewel for entertainment after a visit to Lovelady is the Emerald Island Casino. Great diner food, steaks, BBQ, burgers and nightly specials are all on the menu. The staff is pleasant and you really get value for your entertainment (read gambling) dollar. All around, Lovelady is great place to hang out and enjoy really, really good craft beer. Both the brewery and the family are fabulous additions to the Water Street District!
