  • Booked through Expedia. Got good deal for Laughlin Nevada through Expedia previously and received no unpleasant surprises so thought we would use the service for a Las Vegas trip. Not a good resort stay this time including fees piled high and two free breakfast buffets not available as advertised - only discounts and only if buffet charged to room. Went to buffet for breakfast and it was not very good. Even the coffee was very weak - just coffee flavored hot water. On the plus side we could walk to two other resorts connected through walkways, the Luxor and Mandalay (about the only good thing I can say about the Excalibur). Nothing inexpensive at Excalibur. Room rates are no bargain, parking is $8 per day, buffet is $35 during week and $40 on the weekend. Employees try to sell you show tickets as you are walking through the resort. No coffee maker in the room, but there are coffee kiosks available near the elevators. Unfortunately the coffee kiosks are closed half the time. When open, especially in the morning, expect to wait in line 20 to 30 minutes for a mediocre but overpriced cup of coffee served by the slowest baristas in Nevada. Our room was noisy, near some type of equipment that emitted a loud droning hum 24/7. I am a Navy veteran who used to sleep under the flight deck on an aircraft carrier so I could sleep through it. My wife, however, had trouble sleeping. Update: Checked out a day early and informed front desk. Next day received an email with a link to expedited check out! Contacted the hotel and they insisted the charge for the entire stay would remain in place and I would have to contact my booking service, expedia.com, for any refund issues. I contacted Expedia, was placed on hold for 20 minutes while someone at Expedia contacted Excalibur. In the end the Expedia representative informed me the Excalibur Hotel insisted I had stayed the entire booked time (basically said I was lying) and no refund of any sort would be issued. Recommend avoid Excalibur during a stay in Las Vegas.
