  • I recently moved from the NW to Inspirada and needed a new vet. At first I was really impressed with the holistic approach combined with the traditional medicine at Magnolia. I also found their unconventional examination rooms refreshing, and thought their equipment and facility were very nice. The staff is very friendly and caring. However, I soon felt disappointed. The vet (I'm sure very well intentioned) saw my senior dog for an exam, shots and a long overdue teeth cleaning with extractions needed. She started out by stating that she feared my dog had dementia and would forget to come inside during the hot weather when we installed a doggie door. This deeply concerned me. I told her I was on a budget and would appreciate anything she could do to keep costs low. She then took bloodwork and proceeded to prescribe a whole host of products: Antibiotic, CBD for joints, Kidney pills, Liver pills, Omega 3 oil and a probiotic. The antibiotics were outrageously priced at $150 for one bottle (and no generic to be found) - for a total of over $250. The antibiotic was so strong that it made her so sick to her stomach and she started throwing up and fighting us on taking her other pills too. She disliked the huge $45 bottle of omega 3 and would not take that at all. Well, needless to say, she could not continue on the antibiotic. The vet did not attempt to prescribe an alternative. So then she wanted me to do 2 more blood draws (one the week before surgery, and one the day of surgery) and was not willing to help out on the expenses at all. Then, we house sit for a family member who had a dog door, and she did not exhibit any signs of dementia, and had no problem spending most of her time indoors as is her custom. While perhaps good-intentioned, this vet does not listen to your needs, can be an alarmist, and is unwilling to work with you in maintaining a reasonable budget. I would rather go somewhere that isn't so new-age and foo-foo, but get good solid care from someone who listens to your needs and doesn't scare you unnecessarily. In comparison, she has been going to Creature Comforts for nearly a decade with none of these issues, and I have never felt this way before at a vet's office. Durango Animal Hospital was also very good and we had a great experience there. We will be trying Inspirada Animal Hospital next... So wish us luck!!
