| - It's true it can be hard to get a table here during the weekend, but the wait is worth it! The food is consistently delicious, and their beer selections (all made in house) are fabulous.
Sunday brunch buffet is a veritable banquet, and while things run out very quickly, staff are never far away with either a new tray of the same food, or a replacement of something equivalent.
If I'm taking a visitor out for dinner there, I will always recommend that they have the Brat and Bacon Pretzel Burger. It's literally "Wisconsin in a Bun". A brat patty, with a burger patty (upgrade to the bison, it's worth it!), AND BACON, applewood smoked, all in one handy bundle of soft pretzel deliciousness and complemented with house-made mustard. Perfection!
Of course you couldn't eat one of these at every visit, so I highly recommend the Sustain-a-burger (all locally sourced ingredients), or the New England fish fry (which is one of the best fish fries I have had).
In the summer outside seating is at a premium, and you'll have to use your hawk-eye to spot the second that someone picks up their keys from their table and looks like they may be about to leave. Ninja tactics are recommended.
It is a pub, and this is pub food. If you're coming here looking for exuisite haute cuisine, you're barking up the wrong tree. If you like a fun, relaxed environment, with good food and good drinks, I highly recommend the Great Dane Hilldale.
