  • I had my wedding at the McLean House in Estates of Sunnybrook on Oct. 7, 2012. The outdoor was beautiful with various coloured leaves and the indoor was warm and welcoming with Victorian style furniture and décor. People who worked with me here were all wonderful people and I highly recommend brides to be to check this place out. I picked the McLean House because I adored the backyard lawn area to set up the ceremony and the cosiness feel of the house for welcoming our guests. The McLean House hosts around 70 and we had in total 72 people on my wedding day. The house has a library which has seating area for people to sit and chat, an entrance area that can be set up for reception/cocktail and possibly becoming a dance floor in the evening, as well as a L shaped dining room and a smaller square shaped dining room which I had it set up with coffee/fruits/chocolate fountain/wedding cake for a late night snack bar. I think having a better dining room that fits a dance floor would be something that will make this place even better. The McLean House conservation room, which is the dining room is a L shaped room which is awkward to fit in tables. There's also no option for both the dance floor and the dining area to co-exist. The options were either they clean the tables and turn that room into a dance floor or have the dance area outside of the room in the entrance area. We chose the latter and on the day of I did feel it was a bit too crowded. Someone mentioned that their food was not that good here, which I can only say that it may be the case of not picking the right dish? They offer many different food selections and I have to be honest not every one was that good for me. But the ones that I've chosen for my wedding day I really liked them. It could also be a personal preference thing because they do offer a variety of foods. The other 2 options at this venue are the Coach House and the Vaugh Estate. The Coach House is out of the question for me because it's simply too small - just a rectangular dining room and the décor was not nearly as pretty. The Vaugh Estate is very pretty but way too big - they also said that on any given night there could be up to 3 weddings going on, which I didn't like. I preferred the exclusiveness of the McLean House because we had the entire house to ourselves. They require a minimum charge of $10,000 for the food and drinks before tax and service fees for booking the McLean House and on top of that there were ceremony booking fees, and a couple of other items. It's definitely on the more expensive side out of the places that I've checked, but I don't regret picking this place as I really did enjoy the food and had a great time on my wedding day.
