| - Went to see this place a while back but didn't end up renting here. Bungled high-pressure sales attempts really put me off. Combine that with the neighborhood reputation, lack of grocery anywhere nearby, and jets and reveille from Nellis every morning and it's a no-go.
Was primarily interested as I wanted a short-term rental with utilities rolled into the price, and don't need a large place nor really care what guests think of it. Their own website (and some third-party sites) said they had 12+ units listed at the time I visited and could potentially move you in in 48 hours after application. Yet the lady who was showing gave me this awful face like I'd just asked her to undress when I asked to see an actual rentable unit and not just the show model. At least a dozen units available on short notice yet only one is in a showable state? OK then.
Tried to claim only a handicap accessible unit on the 3rd floor immediately by the elevator was ready to show. That did look to be in good shape, though if you aren't already aware you should know this is a former hotel called Value Place that was converted to "apartments," so rooms are really more like Extended Stay America than an apartment building. That cute colorful "Rubix" design on their website? Yeah, that's the show model only, the actual rooms are bare and stripped down. They do at least have hardwood floors instead of awful old motel carpets, though.
The fourth (top) floor is for smokers, and I've had bad experiences with these old hotel conversions having smoke leak to surrounding floors through the bathroom vents, so I was hoping to see something specifically on the 2nd floor (1st floor = scorpions and neighborhood crime) but they seemed like they were trying to just railroad me into a room of their choosing rather than work with me. Again, bizarre for a place that had at least 12 available units at the time per their website. It seems like they are used to dealing exclusively with the inexperienced and desperate here and if you come in on your game and asserting yourself it completely rattles them.
Literally immediately after I said I wasn't going to fill out an application on the spot, she blurts out that the rent is increasing soon. Jesus. I know this isn't exactly a high-level sales job but a LITTLE subtlety maybe? Oh, and verbatim: "I don't know exactly when the rates are going up, but they're definitely going up 1st of the month." Lol.
This place is relatively new so there's few reviews online, but check out the reviews of nextdoor Eagle Trace Apartments to get an idea of the 'hood you're dealing with. When you cruise through during daylight hours it looks OK but once the sun goes down, wheee. The building itself does seem to be more OK than other Craig/Nellis area properties but I really don't appreciate being jerked around and having my time wasted. Way too many red flags here.
