rev:text	There have been a few instances that have made me decide I need to switch vets. Most recent of which is bringing my cat in for what I would consider a bit of an emergency situation. He had been acting unusual for a couple days when I brought him in and explained he is typically very loving towards me but wouldn't let me touch his back end or pick him up. Of course he had to go through his annual and get all of his shots. I figured since he was getting his annual check up this would mean he would be checked from head to toe like he had been in the past (we've been coming here for years). A full blood work was done (he had to be sedated since he was not happy which he's never required before) and it was concluded he had a thyroid problem. At one point during the visit the Dr assisting stated that her head was "kind of spinning" and she "felt like she was repeating herself" she also stepped out of the room briefly because people went by the door quickly and she wanted to know if there was an emergency. Quite honestly this made me feel like we were not a priority or important at that particular moment. I understand there are emergencies but a facility like that should be staffed accordingly. We were sent home with thyroid medication. I asked if he was in pain to which the response was no and his mood should improve in a couple days. At home something just didn't seem right so I continued to examine him through his growls and discovered a large lump on his rectum. I called the vet back and asked if a rectal exam had been done since I was charged for an annual check up and the response was no. I was upset because I initially came in saying he would not let me touch his back end so I don't understand why that was not discovered on the first visit. We had to come back up for the second time in one day to get him checked up again which is where it was discovered he had quite a large abscess in one of his rectal glands that had to be lanced. All was taken care of and his mood was immediately improved the second time we came home. As I stated above we have been using this facility for YEARS! All 3 of my animals have been seen here. I have another cat whose previous owner also used this facility so she has been seen by this vet numerous time through the past 5 years; at least twice a year for her asthma. When I adopted her we put her on inhalers to prevent these small flare ups that she would get. When she did get them she was consistently prescribed steroids to get her through the worst of her flare ups. This is in her medical records. For about the third time since I have been her human (this has always been the course of action) I called up stating she was going through it again and was told to bring her in for her annual before they could do anything. This leads me to believe that the bottom line has become about the money for this vet. I have encountered this numerous time with each of my pets. Nothing has changed medically with either of them and for one reason or another I had to call for a very routine reason and was told I had to have the "wellness visit" that is upwards of $200 by the time everything is said and done before they would help me with my pet. When I have an animal that they have been seeing for years for the same issue I am quite frustrated that they can't just help me with that issue without demanding additional money from me first. I am a great pet owner, if something had changed with my pet medically since then I would understand but there have been no changes, no signs that anything else is wrong, nothing other than the symptoms that they previously had that had prevously been treated with whatever it was I was asking for. The 3rd issue I had was when I brought my above mentioned cat in for her check up before they would prescribe her steroids (which they eventually did prescribe) and I had asked about a toenail she had coming through her foot pads (from a very poorly done declaw she got before I adopted her). They mentioned that I could do a foot soak with an antibiotic wash. They then stated to me that "it's really easy" and "we can show you how to do it" to which I responded of course, that way I can do this for her at home it it gets irritated. The Drs asst walks back in the room with what looks to be water in a small plastic bowl. She attempts to hold my cats foot in the bowl but is struggling so I take over and hold her while I dip her foot in this warm water solution for maybe a few minutes at best. We then dry her off and I go to check out. Turns out the "show me" was $40. Reaffirming to me that yet again the $ is more important than the animal/animals well being. I am not well off and I budget very tightly to make sure I can accommodate for these things however saying you're going to "show me" how to do something vs stating xyz will cost $ but we would be glad to do that so you know how seems a little shady. I will never refer this vet. Zero stars was not an option, but oh if. 0.
