  • The prices for pets, especially 8-10 week old puppies, are INSANE. Even a 10% off discount with some sort of a "member/reward" card does not make a big difference. You still pay a sales tax. This place sells puppies from PUPPY MILLS, even ones that have a public record or wrongdoing (after being visited and inspected by authorities.) Puppies in this store are not from local breeders or reputable breeders, and they are not eligible for an AKC registration. For example, in July 2015, Siberian Husky puppies were "delivered" to this store from Amos EGraber breeder (aka a "puppy mill"/distributor/re-seller) in IN. Imagine that cute little all blue eyes puppy being locked inside a small cage in some truck for days in transit during the hot summer weather. For those who happen to buy a sick puppy that develops some disease on the list of a Limited One-Year Puppy Warranty provided by this store, there is a "remedy" called Pets For a Lifetime. But this "awesome" Puppy For a Lifetime Program requires a new pet owner to buy at least three Health Extension products every 90 days to remain in the program and to qualify for a free replacement of a sick puppy for another puppy. And a cycle can continue over and over. Seriously? Who wants to spend money on products that he/she doesn't believe in? And who wants to have a new puppy for a lifetime? Especially knowing that a new puppy will come either from the same puppy mill or maybe even worse one. No wonder that puppies are insanely expensive in this store. Someone needs to pay a price for those "FREE" replacements, and it's definitely not the store. The claimed "benefit" of an already paid AKC certificate is actually a registration to AKC CANINE PARTNERS. Even if a puppy bought at this store might seem to be a "pure" breed with its parents' names and registrations in AKC on the paper provided by Petland, all that our puppy could join was AKC Canine Partners. In addition, AKC had no record of our puppy being sold (a certificate/registration) in its system when I called three weeks after the purchase! AKC said they needed to verify those information before our puppy could be registered. AKC Canine Partners are for mixed breed dogs and non-eligible AKC registered dogs, as I learned after the fact. So, a higher price of a pet has nothing to do with a price of a "pure" breed puppy. It's a simple misrepresentation of facts. We love our Siberian Husky puppy and we bought him because our son fell in love with him the moment he saw him. And when he played with a puppy in a designated play box, the puppy, for a quite long time, seemed to be more interested in a toy that salesperson gave him than our son. However, after all research I made and information I have now, I would NEVER buy a pet from a store like this. While the store has a great selection of pet food and toys, offering to a new pet owner a 10% off discount on all items bought, it will be against my principles and beliefs buying at this store after this experience.
