| - On my first visit to RiPT with a coworker, we just went for smoothies but were given a tour of the fitness facility. I was really impressed. Their classes seem great and they have top notch equipment. So they get an extra star on my review for having what appears to be a really phenomenal fitness program in place. But my review is mostly for the smoothie/health food bar portion of the business.
Value: As a two-time customer of the smoothie bar, I have to say it's pretty average. There are a few pre-designed smoothies or you can build your own from a selection of ingredients. Extra "boosts" are $1.50 and include things like bee pollen, protein powder, etc. It's pretty standard pricing for a smoothie place. More than I really want to spend ($6.50 for their cheapest smoothie, $7.50 for pre-designed boost-containing smoothies, and up for more customization) but in line with what you expect from a "fancy" smoothie place. So on value, I would put them at a pretty average ranking. I've had more value for the money and less value for the money. 3/5 stars.
Variety: They also have non-smoothie foods that do look like very good value for the money, such as a quinoa salad and some protein parfaits. I haven't tried them but they look good. And they accommodate vegan and nut-free customers. The quinoa salad in particular features feta and walnuts, so there was a vegan version with no feta and a nut free vegan version with no walnuts. I am astounded at the logic of this choice because it's super easy to add feta to a nut-free salad for someone who isn't vegan but if you get a nut-free vegan they have no salad to choose. I applaud the variety for different dietary needs. 4/5 on variety.
Service: The employees are friendly enough but the wait is fairly slow. For the guy to make three smoothies we were in the store for about half an hour. He did not seem to know what went into the smoothies or what their predetermined prices were. He was ringing up our orders wrong and had to re-do all three transactions. I think he may have been filling in for the person who usually handled the smoothie bar, so I am trying to cut him some slack but it was very frustrating. The first time we visited, the wait was just as slow (I guess you can't rush a blender) but the person who made our smoothies wrote down the orders and didn't make any mistakes with checkout. I would rate the service as 2.5/5 stars.
If we had a local Chipotle I can tell you I would rather spend $6.50 there. But the smoothies are good. We will return for more cold fruity beverages as summer continues. Just prepare for the wait.
