| - I'm giving one star because the walkable proximity to multiple choices for food is great. Other than that, this is not Crowne Plaza material. My job keeps me on the road 30 weeks/year. I know a Crowne Plaza when I see one. Short list ... rooms are dark, bedding is sub-Sleep Inn quality, bath fan and hvac are noisy, patio furniture is cheap and questionable, "on-site" restaurant isn't. Just a tip, don't take your luggage to the front desk with you at check-in unless you just like dragging it around behind you. And realize that the closest rooms to the front desk are easily 80-100 yards away. On a good note, front desk staff is friendly and quotes rehearsed lines well. But Heaven forbid you need a late check-out, even at Platinum Elite level!! Before I even checked in on Monday, I called and asked to extend my stay from Thursday check out to Saturday. After "checking", I was told there was no problem. I even confirmed upon check in that I was down for Saturday check out. No worries. Something told me when my new dates didn't show on line, to re-confirm on Wednesday night. No record whatsoever. Imagine that!? And no way to extend due to being sold out, per manager. She, by the way, is also the same manager that yelled out from the back room "No!!" after overhearing my request for a late checkout, since I could probably make that work. She knew who I was (I stated my name and room when requesting the late check) and she knew my hotel chain status (She looked my room up when I asked for the extend) when she heard the interaction at the desk one hour later. Plain and simple, "No!" The rates here are twice what the stay is worth. I come here often for work. This is the one, and ONLY time I'll stay at this Crowne POS. With the history behind this place, it could be very nice, and get get rates at twice what they charge. But not with the 1 and 2 star ratings I've read from the past 6-8 months. C'mon IHG!! Put the crack down on this joint!! Meanwhile, I'll be building up my Hilton points until you do ...
