| - Gilcrease Orchard is an all-in-one fall activity, there's a lot to do!
First, I recommend going here early in the morning - where the sun is nice and healthy and not so hot! Once you've parked across the street, make a left from the entrance to head over the little food court area they have and you MUST HAVE their freshly-made Apple Cider Donuts ($2.50 for 6 mini donuts) and pair it with a cup of coffee!
Then once you're done, right outside the food court area is one of the stops of the Wagon Ride. The wagon goes around the orchard about every 10 mins and makes stops throughout. Definitely beats walking through the whole place because it is huge! But if you're about #fitlife and decide to walk, they do offer little wagons to put all your pickings in!
So the first stop is where a chicken coop, bee display and straw maze are.
Next stop is by the pumpkin patch, which includes TONS of pumpkins to choose from. Then if you walk to the left of the pumpkins you'll find lots of vegetables, like eggplants, green beans, beets, or cucumbers.
They block off certain areas specifically for school fields trips, so careful where you're picking!
The last stop is where the checkout/entrance is.
Prices are listed for your pickings, we only picked out pumpkins and they were $0.50 / lbs!
A few of the take home goodies would be Caramel Apples ($3 each), Apple Cider ($5- 1/2 gal), Almond Butters ($9 each) or Peanut Butters ($6 each). We took home a bag of their delicious Kettle Corn ($4 per bag), which is also made and bagged daily!
We spent a good 2-3 hours and was pretty tired from all the eating, walking and picking!
This was our first year going here and the little one (and me :P) definitely had a good time!
P.S. Wear shoes / boots that you don't mind getting REALLY dirty! And maybe even some gardening gloves since you're getting down and dirty, but plastic bags also do the job!
