| - The house I am renting in Georgetown, Tx is with American Residential Properties. I have lived here since February 2015 and have ALWAYS paid my rent on time each and every month. Saturday, at my baby shower, I was served with papers stating my rent was past due and I had until October the 11th to settle this or I could be evicted... Mind you I was served on Saturday, October 10th. After receiving notice I called but there office was closed and are only open Monday thru Friday like most other businesses. I called again on Monday and put on hold for a few minutes before an automated machine told me someone would be with me in 8 minutes. After waiting and waiting the automated machine came on once again saying someone would be with me in 20 minutes. I was literally on hold for almost 40 minutes and still nothing so I sent an email regarding the urgency of my call. Around 11am I tried again. This time my first hold time was 12 minutes then it went to 43 minutes. I was starting to feel like I was getting the run around with these people so I sent another email, but this time stating exactly how I felt. I FINALLY received a call back around 4pm from a guy named, KEVIN. He was very rude and kept interrupting me as I was trying to explain the reason of my call. He also was arguing with me about when my rent is due. Per my lease agreement I have until the 6th every month to make my payment but he was refusing to believe it. After I told him I have my lease right on my email and would be more than happy to send it over to him, he then told me he had it too and would check on it. After being on hold for about 5 minutes, he gets back on to tell me that I was right, rent is due by the 6th every month.
I asked at this point for some type of documentation stating I was indeed NOT late and was in good standing for my future rental history and my personal records, he told me he could NOT send me such things because my lease agreement stated the 6th. But then why was I even falsely served???? I kept trying to explain why I needed that, he then proceeded to tell me that my payment is due on the 1st every month so technically I was still late even paying on the 6th. At this point I was done, I asked to speak to a manager about this issue since he was being a straight up JERK. He told me he would have one call me. I asked for the managers name and he told me he wasn't going to give it out and that he would 'document' my account. After I told him i was not going to settle for that answer he puts me on hold, ONCE AGAIN, and gets back on the phone saying he documented it and would have them call me. I again told him that is not what I wanted... I asked for her name. So he told me it was Lonnell and she would be in contact. So I will be calling again tomorrow... and the next day after that until I get what I need for my personal reference later on.
From this experience, I will NOT be leasing this house another year and WILL NOT lease any house that is leased by American Residential Properties due to their lack of customer service and falsely serving me and going against my tenant rights!
