Let me preface by saying I'm leery of any auto place. I took my car to my closest chain auto repair shop (not Discount Tire) for annual state inspection and was told my tires were in bad enough condition to earn a failing grade. They really were. I passed on having them replaced immediately because I'm an obsessive researcher.
I went home and started browsing tire shops online and different options I had. Discount Tire was one of the few I found that let me shop online inventory. I selected a set of Hankook tires that had some great reviews and called them up. I asked about getting the tires and they quoted the same price I had pulled up online. They also said they were having a No Tax promotion in which they would pay my tax. Great deal.
I dropped off my car one morning and took the light rail into work (this is very convenient and easy to do). When I arrived back right before 6pm, they had the tires on, and quickly checked me out for the price we had already agreed upon.
On the original phone call, they did offer a full warranty for an additional charge, which I declined, and that was the extent of their upselling. I found dealing with them hassle-free and surprisingly pleasant.
