| - I came here as a seemingly affordable and value-laden alternative after not being able to book at my regular place, Mync Lash Lounge in Yorkville. This is their second location at Bloor and Bathurst. Website is great, place is easy to find, receptionist very friendly and place is tidy, well decorated, simple, and cheerful. They had separate rooms for each client which was very nice. Onto the service. I had the eyebrow wax. 1. The technician I had was pretty much manhandling my face, it seemed. She was not gentle with each movement, and although I usually do not flinch at the slight pain of eyebrow waxing, I was literally tense from anticipation of the pain just because of her method. Maybe it is personal taste but I find the method a technician uses can make it a lot nicer or a lot worse in terms of the experience (I get laser brazilians so I am no newbie to hair removal pain). 2. She waxed in some areas twice, I think using different waxes but I always thought this was not good for the skin? Anyhoo that happened.
3. Shape was lovely; however, it was not as clean as I wanted it. After asking for a few more manual tweezes, she seemingly complained by asking if Ive had threading done before (implying that waxing is usually not as clean which is false since Ive had it done pretty perfectly before elsewhere), then went in there with her the tweezer and was basically scratching my skin with her tweezer, and she pinched my skin a few times too trying to get at some stragglers.. and waxed a bit more. Then with a final: 'well, thats as thin as its gonna get' from her, I left. I think she meant clean. When I paid I was pleasantly surprised with a first time client discount of 50% off. 4. Well, I figured for the price I can't complain too much.. but something was definitely not working.. there was wax leftover on my face that I had to pick off when I got home.. I had to re-tidy up the edges by plucking, and I also had to trim some hairs. It's unfortunate because I would have switched permanently over to them for my eyebrow waxes, but unfortunately that wont be happening. It may really have just been that technician though, the company concept is rather nice (hence the 3 stars). In the end, my brows are nice looking (after some fixing up at home), but I just need to be in and out with perfect brows consistently and one bad job is enough for me to discount giving them another try.
