  • So here is why everyone hates this place: Fox rentals has the cheapest rates on all the 3rd party websites. Everyone books here because of that. The line is about 40 minutes to get to the counter while all the other agencies are empty. But their upgrade game is strong (and borderline illegal). HERE IS THE SCAM: they are the cheapest and they need to make up the lost revenue by having the lowest rates. When you get to the counter, they are trained to ask you about your rental: where you're going, your plans, how many people will be going with you, etc... They do this so you'll give them information they can then use it against you. For example: we had 5 people riding with us and rented their "standard" car (which had 2 smaller sizes below it): a VW Passat or similar. When the counter dude found that out he immediately said "Oh, we just rented our last 4 door standard size out, all I've got left is 2 doors. I can get you something bigger for next to nothing." When I pressed him further as to what sedan only had 2 doors, he got stumped. It took a solid 10 seconds for him to think up the VW Beetle. THAT is not a Standard size car. After declining all the extra coverage and just looking at him, he pretended to use his computer for about 2 minutes and then excused himself out back for another few minutes. When he came back, he made a call on his cell and the person down with the rental cars was magically able to find us a 4 door sedan: a VW Jetta. He then warned me, "before I was going to give you a SUV for next to nothing, now, if you go down there and it is too small, you'll pay double!" When I got down to the parking garage, guess what?!?! There were only 4 door sedans to be seen anywhere on the standard sedan row: Jetta's, Fusions, Camry's. How magical there wasn't a single 2 door sedan to be seen. When I asked the parking assistant if they had any 2 door standard size sedans, she looked at me like I had a 3rd eye. She had never heard of it. She said maybe they had a 2 door Sonata, but that she hadn't seen one (Hyundai doesn't sell many at all). So basically here is the scam: they find out how you want to use the car, then tell you it isn't available, they just rented it out, you only have manual windows and locks, or some other BS. Then they magically upgrade you at such a great deal and are really helping you out. If you know you will wait 40 minutes and that they will try to scare you into thinking your car isn't available, it is much easier to navigate their game. Maybe saving that extra $20 wasn't worth it. I did look up on the website where we booked and it said nothing about getting a 2 door vs 4 door, but on the Fox website, it does list their cars as 2/4 door. So legally, yes they can say a 2 door is possible on your reservation, but they just don't even have them to rent. Nice try. Oh, and when I asked the liar man at the desk, "Is this why you have the terrible 1 star google reviews?" He had the funniest "you got me" look and then responded "Oh, don't bring that up."
