| - I'd been daydreaming of lopping off several inches of hair after my wedding, but hadn't actually made an appointment anywhere.
Then I was running some errands in Cotswold last Saturday afternoon and thought I'd try my luck at Carmen Carmen. I called them while I was browsing one of the stores nearby, and to my surprise they had immediate availability, so I hustled over to the salon.
When I arrived, the receptionist checked me in and offered me a drink (water, coffee, and I think tea?). I sat for a minute and admired the salon before my stylist, Maricel, introduced herself.
I showed Maricel my Pinterest board (natch), we chatted for a minute about my hair and lifestyle, and then we got started. They have automatic reclining massage chairs--super comfy!--at the shampoo station, so I was actually able to relax while Maricel washed my hair. I have never been so comfortable during a shampoo.
Then it was time for the cut. I was really impressed with the technique (big chop, cut layers, blow dry, then go back with shears to add shape and texture before finishing the style), and completely thrilled with the final result. I appreciated the way Maricel explained what she was doing and the products used throughout. The owner, Carmen, stopped by to introduce himself and compliment me (and Maricel) on my hair when we were done, which I thought was a nice touch.
I'm in love with my new haircut, and at $50 (plus tip) for shampoo, cut, and style, I definitely felt like I'd gotten my money's worth. Stellar service from the time I called until I walked out the door.
