| - In the food world there are many duos, and the combination of chicken and doughnuts are new to me. Normally chicken is paired with waffles, so i was quite excited to try this revelation. We had just come from lunch at Brioche, so unfortunately we were too full for chicken but we ordered a few doughnuts to go. There is a deal for a coffee and doughnut and there are a few bar stools right at the window, which is perfect for people watching in the hip Leslieville area. The style of doughnuts that they serve at Paulettes are strictly cake. If you are looking for fluffy, yeasted doughnuts, Glory Hole is more your speed. There were about 7 flavour options, i chose a vanilla sugared doughnut, along with a banana coconut with a chocolate drizzle. The first one was my favourite, there was a slight crunch from the granulated sugar and the doughnut had a great body and taste to it. The banana was amazing, the flavour came through without being synthetic. The chocolate drizzle was tasty but not necessary. The doughnuts travel well, i carried mine in my purse all day and it was unaffected.
Overall, Paulettes is a great addition to the Leslieville food scene, they are an original shop, and i look for ward to my next visit for some chicken.
