| - I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the day after I wrote my chipper review, my experience with AutoNation Hyundai turned into a total sh*tshow.
The original offer I was given went kaput. They reneged and told me I needed to go through my credit union. ...In theory, that was just jingles. I love my credit union. The problem we had was threefold:
1. They sent illegible and/or incomplete paperwork to my credit union on four separate occasions, causing me to spend over 30 minutes on the phone with my C.U. every day on my lunch break, which is pretty much already a break-neck speed fiasco of juggling my two puppies' potty training and wolfing down a corn dog. I can't verify that there is any truth to this, but one of the representatives also mentioned to me that a member of the finance team at AutoNation Hyundai was unprofessional and disconnected the phone when she requested documents. There are two sides to every story, blah blah blah... all I know is, I did a lot more of the leg work on this than I should have had to.
2. They were unable to come to an agreement with my credit union on the bottom line price, and told me that they could no longer offer the warranty, service, or gap coverage that inspired me to buy my little mazda in the first place. I refused and told them to keep working on the deal.
3. Ultimately, they asked me to bring the car I purchased from them back in and take my little blue miata (ahem... POS) back. At this point, I got fed up with lengthy phone calls (and those pesky corn dog lunches), and told them to drop all of the perks I was offered so I could just finance the car. Luckily, my credit union offered a very similar warranty and gap coverage for less than half the price I was quoted at the dealership.
Long story short? I am a total newbie to the car-buying process, but I've really never heard of a dealership asking someone to bring their new car back. Ultimately, my salesman and the gentleman that did my financing in-house were very nice people. No one was ever rude or disrespectful to me directly, just disrespectful of my time and energy. My idea was that the dealerships generally bend over backwards because closing the deal is their job - here, I just was not taken care of the way I felt I should have been.
