| - Since moving to Vegas 9 months ago, I have gone to this Meineke for oil changes and they have been really good with them. When my driver's side window got stuck in the "down position," I went to them to fix it. One week and $295 later, my driver's side window is still screwed up.
One week ago from yesterday, I went to this Meineke to get my window fixed. I waited patiently for hours, while they replaced the window motor with a refurbished one. They showed me that it goes up and down like it should, I paid the $295, and went on my way.
Six days later, I had to stop at a security checkpoint and roll my window down. It went down fine, but was stuck again in the "down position." I was quite upset, as it took me nearly an hour to finally pull the window up while my wife pushed the button.
The next day, I called Meineke and they told me to bring it back in. When I arrived, they informed me that they were too busy and asked if I could come back later. I was a bit shocked, considering that I was a customer who just paid a lot of money to have something fixed that actually wasn't fixed. Nevertheless, I kept my composure and returned the next morning.
When I arrived, the front desk guy asked me if it was the motor or a different part in the window that was causing problems. Not being a mechanic, I politely said, "I have no idea." Then he suggested that maybe I dropped something down in the window. Of course, it's MY fault their fix totally failed. I felt my blood boiling, but smiled and handed him the keys.
The mechanic took my car into the garage and called me back about an hour later. I went into the garage and was shown that a pin in the refurbished motor they put in seems to have worked its way out. There's actually a different part that is messed up, causing resistance on the motor.
"So when you put the window down or up, the motor is getting really hot," he said.
He suggested either not using the window very much or replacing this other part, which would cost extra money, of course.
"I'm gonna tell you now, that I'm NOT gonna keep replacing this motor! It's under warranty, so I tightened the loose pin," he said.
I opted not to give them anymore of my money and had him just put my door back together so I could leave.
There was no remorse or apologies and no taking responsibility for charging me for something that did not work. I felt like I was being blamed for their failure. I was actually being scolded like a child by the mechanic.
You may have suckered me out of $295, but that's all you're going to get out of me. Fortunately, there are plenty of other mechanics in Las Vegas, and I'm sure some of them take responsibility for their work. I'm very proud of myself for not being rude at all. Even though I was very angry, I held my tongue and just drove away.
I advise anyone who needs work done on their vehicles to just drive past this place. Their business practices are shoddy, to say the least. I don't mind paying a lot for something that is actually fixed, but I consider it to be a scam when a supposed "expert" charges me for something he hasn't fixed and is not willing to stand behind if it fails.
