This church was built 80 years ago in 1933 by the poor field workers in the area. As they were able to raise funds things were added but the most impressive thing was every member of the church had a hand in building it.
Robert T. Evans designed the church in Spanish Colonial Revival style from ones he had seen in Sonora and New Mexico. The building is constructed with approximately 14,000 adobe bricks which were hand made and dried in the sun. Each brick weighs 50 lbs.
Bernabe Herrera handcrafted all 15 stained glass windows from discarded glass from St. Augustine's Cathedral in Tucson.
Though the parish has moved to a larger church they have restored this wonder and still holds occasional weddings there.
The staff on hand are very friendly and informative.
