My wife was traveling home to her baby shower 7 months pregnant. She was traveling alone and there was a bad snowstorm that made the roads iffy at best. We had prepaid for an economy car, and the lady at the counter told my wife she was going to "take care of her" and upgrade her to an SUV. When my wife asked what the price difference would be, she was told "I already took care of you." The lady at the counter made it seem as though she was helping my 7 month pregnant wife out by upgrading her to an SUV in bad conditions.
When she got home, we checked the credit card statement and realized we had been charged again, at a higher rate than we initially agreed too. When we called Budget to see what the charge was for, they explained it was for the upgrade. When my wife stated that she never agreed to pay a higher price, more than double our initial agreement, they stated "You signed the paper. Nothing we can do." Yes, she did sign. As she was being assured that she was "being taken care of" and that the price "was taken care of."
Don't rent your car here. They have unethical business practices that border on illegal. They will lie to your face. And we have rented from Budget every time we have traveled for years. No more.
