| - When I was looking for a place for dinner for my birthday celebration weekend, this place wasn't really high on my list. When it comes to purses, shoes and sometimes clothes, I'll put down a pretty penny or hundred for nice stuff. But when it comes to food, I think to myself, "Is it really worth the cost to put something in only to have it come out?"
In this case, "Yes!" Okay... Sort of...
I ordered the boneless Ribeye and a side of broccoli. Ribeye was good - just enough flavor and not too salty. Being the carnivore that I am, I was shocked that I really enjoyed the broccoli too. It was as perfect as steamed vegetables could get. It was bright green from top to bottom and crispy, not mushy.
My sister had pasta with shrimp. I must say, though there was shrimp on her plate, they were not "shrimp" at all! They were huge!! Seriously, Delmonico must get their produce, seafood and meat from "Food Heaven R Us" or something.
Although the food was good, I would say the service is what gives Delmonico 4-stars. Again, I'm not a frequent fine diner. So, to have my water glass filled up every time it gets low to having another (delicious) roll magically appear on my plate just as I suck in the last mouthful is fantastic! I'd even go so far as to say they'd probably spray the air around me with something fragrant once the broccoli hit you know where.
Now I can see why it's worth it to pay at least $50 for dinner. Thanks Emeril!
