I remember coming here a few times when it was in Le Faubourg. They offer home-style Japanese food (curry, katsudon, gyudon, rice bowls in general) at low prices and three different portion sizes for each offering. It's a very popular lunch spot in its new location from what I can tell. I had a medium unadon (called una-jyu on their menu) for $15 after tax ($18 for large). It was not bad, the eel was firm and the sauce was not too sweet. It's the most expensive menu item and pretty much every other bowl is under $10 after tax. I've also tried their gyudon and teriyaki chicken, which were fine. The chicken is dark meat and the beef is thin and braised. Don't expect much if any vegetables in your mains but you can get a salad on the side if you like. They have sauces and condiments but some of the sauces I found to be too salty like the sesame sauce, which is normally a sauce I like.
Cash only and only open on weekdays during lunch in the food court. If you don't work or study nearby you'll never be able to go to this place. Is it worth skipping work to come here? No but I do wish I worked nearby or that they'd start opening during some evenings. As if it wasn't so inexpensive already, you can buy a loyalty card for $1 and get a discount after getting 5 meals.
