I've tried Fatburger several times, on Denman in Vancouver and at the first location in Calgary at Deerfoot Meadows. I've always been happy with what I've had there but not consistently at Bankers Hall. One time I got a burger with bacon I'd absolutely not requested on it. Another time I tried the turkey burger which has bizarre sage seasoning and just comes across as turkey sausage in burger form on an unfortunate whole wheat bun (which NEVER belongs anywhere near a burger). Then I fell in love with their baguette sandwiches but they took them off the menu.
Why, given this spotty history, am I giving this location five stars?
Because I saw burger heaven today. I finally ordered the King. Two 4-oz patties, delightfully messy, perfectly cooked beef on the softest, most UNCTUOUS bun. The whole experience was transcendent. I had the best burger of my life at P&L in Toronto in May and this is the single best burger I've had since then. I'm instantaneously obsessed now- plotting ways to get downtown even though I work at U of C. I just can't say enough. It was amazing.
Fries were superb as always- Fatburger has the best fast-food fries in town.
