  • This place is truly a scam. We were classic victims of bait and switch. My hubby is a Hilton Diamond member and he was offered the timeshare promotion at Elara to stay there for 3 nights. We were originally booked at the trump hotel for a 900 sq ft 1-bedroom. About 3 weeks before our departure, I had called Hilton grand vacation club reservations team to request to stay at the Elara since that's where the presentation is. The agent checked and said that it would be down to a junior suite of 500 sq for at Elara and asked me if we would be willing to downsize to a junior suite. I said ok since the location is more central and we were willing to sacrifice knowing it is still a junior suite. So I logged on to the Hilton grand vacation club website and verified the date and the room type is 1 bedroom junior suite. Even the day of arrival at 2pm I was still able to see my correct reservation. Then we arrived around 5:30pm and I logged on again to bring up my reservation to the front desk. Surprise surprise! They downgraded me to the basic studio unit which is only 250 sq ft! I was trying to let front desk know. They sent me to the marketing desk which already closed. Then they brought the front desk manager who was no help at all and said wait for next morning when hgvc marketing comes back to work. I was absolutely tired of the game they were playing. They begged us to come to the timeshare presentation by luring us with the nice room and then when went there, they deny everything. Even no trail in the system. Partly my fault was the fact that I only took a screenshot of the online reservation at trump 1 bed but trusted the Hilton system enough that I forgot to screenshot the junior suite at Elara. Lesson learned- never ever trust the online system. Always take sceeenshot to prove. Anyway, the studio itself is not well designed. There are no outlets near the desk for your computer. The doors and walls are thin we can hear all the conversation and loud talking after midnight from the next door. I don't blame the people because it's normal talking. It's the just the cheap building materials. The bathroom has hardly any hooks for hanging clothes. Towels are dirty with stains. We tried to bring this up to the front desk the next morning but customer service is horrible they pretty much have the attitude of we can't do anything about it. They weren't even the least bit willing to try helping. We asked engineering for an extension cord and it took half day to get it. Needless to say, all the bad experience makes me NOT want to buying their timeshare. They are asking for it. So then that's what you get. Folks- I wrote all this to let you know to use my lesson and don't make the same mistake we did. Never trust the Hilton system, ever !
