I buy food and wine at Reid's next door. I eat breakfast at Little Spoon across the street. I buy fish from Clean Catch next to them. (No, on Mellow Mushroom). But why I've never been to Nolen's escapes me . . . but no more. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on a slow holiday weekend night.
We began with their zucchini chips. The order is huge and is best split between 4 people. We managed to lick the plate clean all on our own, though. My wife's entree was scallops and risotto. Mmmm. Just what you'd expect: creamy risotto cooked el dente with 5 good-sized scallops happily seared to perfection all perched on top in a neat row.
I ordered the salmon tacos which were delicious. The corn was so fresh, however, it stole the flavor away from the fish. (Way to go corn! Don't let that fish outshine you!) Thankfully, I like farm fresh corn. Our server, Samantha, had recommended other courses, obviously, but I was stuck on gettin' me some fish tacos. She was an excellent server BTW.
Our evening could not have been nicer; therefore, 5 stars and a guaranteed repeat.
