  • Maybe we were expecting too much from this place when we came...(especially since yelp reviews indicate 4.5 stars!)...but we were a bit underwhelmed. Our wait was only 25 minutes, which was great compared to what others experience (we arrived at 2:05 pm or so on Friday afternoon) Our chef was a bit grumpy; never smiled, never really talked to anyone that was eating, and we kept hearing him sighing. haha...maybe he just needed to go on break or something. We ordered: (1) Combo Pan Roast - shrimp crab lobster; fresh seafood sautéed with Brandy, Cream, and Tomato, served with steamed rice), $21.99 I had high hopes for my pan roast, but it was OK overall. Flavors were great, and soupy. Felt like the amount of lobster/shrimp we got was very minimal though - so was disappointed by that. Maybe that's how it is with the Pan Roast? The seafood content in the gumbo + diablo was more than that of the pan roast, not sure why. We also ordered a spice level of 8 and it was way too hot, lol. I was sweating bullets, although my husband enjoyed that spice-level. Since we shared this entree, they gave us 2 scoops of rice separately (in 2 separate bowls). I was telling my husband that next time (if I come again & the wait is not that long), I would order an entree w/ more seafood content, such as the shrimp & lobster diablo! haha :) (2) Oysters on half shell - dozen, $18.99 - fresh and a good size, but not the most amazingly fresh oysters I've had. They shuck the oysters right there and then, after you place the order. It comes with slices of lemon, cocktail sauce and horseradish paste. This is served to you before your entrees come out. From a price perspective, it's more worth it to buy the dozen for $18.99 instead of half dozen for $12.99. Service was very limited, there was just one chef (who was cooking everyone's meal), and a waitress who had to take orders and bus the bowls, plates, pour everyone's drinks, etc. There are only 18 seats along the bar, too. Overall, it was fun to sit at the bar and see how the cooking is done; but we would probably only rate this place a 3.5-3.75 stars. I'm thinking if I tried the "shrimp & lobster diablo" next time, I may change my mind and upgrade the stars. :)
