| - I am so happy I finally entered this store! It has a comprehensive magazine selection covering many genres (art, design, fashion, sport, writing, crafts, pets, travel etc) as well as many nationalities (mostly European, I think some Mexican and Japanese, as well as the usual American and Canadian publications), not too mention many price ranges! If you are homesick, and want to read your national daily, then this is your place - if they don't have it, they probably could arrange to get it.
My favorite section is the French bookstore upstairs - they have most major bestsellers here, as well as many children's books. There are many authors from France and Quebec, as well as the usual translations (Harry Potter, the classics, mystery writers etc). Possibly there are better francophone bookstores in Toronto, but this seems like a good place to start.
On a weekend morning, you can grab a coffee and pastry from Pusateri's down the street, and browse almost to your heart's content while sipping away (just dont get crumbs on the Italian vogue....I imagine this is slightly frowned upon by their staff). You can then buy a 10-pound weekend newspaper in the language of your choice, and stagger home to line the kitty litter...oops, I mean read some more.
