| - Besides the fact that the counter staff at Green Beanery is slower than a dead grandmother, I have to say that I was pretty impressed by it, and I don't even drink coffee...
I often go in accompanying a coffee drinker, and as they mull over the many bags of sustainable, fresh beans, I browse the store and come across a number of nifty gadgets. The Green Beanery has everything you need to make a good cup of java; coffee makers, roasters, grinders and espresso makers, and of course, coffee beans.
They also carry pots, kettles, bodums, sifters, salt and pepper shakers and the coolest, funkiest selection of toasters I have ever seen. I literally go in just to look at the toaster display and stand there in awe for about 20 minutes, only to be dragged away empty handed cause my conventional, white, plastic, two-slice, toaster at home still functions, unfortunately.
The prices of all these domestic house hold items can range from cheap to pricey, and it all depends on what you're looking for and what your price range is. They have the most basic gadgets, to the most complex, and high end.
The space itself is pretty cool. It's a large, open shop with lots of light coming through the floor to ceiling windows, and the perfect set up for a warm drink and people watching at the very bubbly Bloor and Bathurst intersection.
A bag of basic deep roast coffee is about $7 for 1/2 pound and you can get it ground at the Green Beanery or take it home, as is.
