| - Been in my house 14 years, never had much problem with my came-with-house air conditioner, but last year decided to have it checked out on another company's specially prices Spring inspection offer. Basically, the guy kept insisting how much had gone wrong with my air conditioner, how it was only days away from ultimate demise, how replacing parts would cost so much more than replacing the whole unit - then offered to make me a "special deal" on a new unit, but the deal was only good for that day. I like to investigate high ticket items before I buy them, so I paid for the inspection, did nothing else, & made it through the Las Vegas summer without incident.
But figured the AC unit was worth revisiting this year, expecting that I probably needed to replace it anyway. Found good reviews for ACLV & found they had an inspection special for $39 - much less than any other company. Called yesterday, their service technician Daniel arrived today exactly as scheduled. Stuck with him through the inspection. While last year's tech spent much time checking my thermostat & ceiling insulation & giving little more than a once-over to the AC unit, Daniel went right to the AC unit, put it through a battery of tests that he explained very well as he went along. The inspection lasted quite a long time, & in the end only one pretty cheap part ($125, a far cry from a $$$$+ AC unit) needed replacement (or, rather, would need replacing at some point in the indefinite near future) because if it went the compressor would probably go as well. I had that taken care of - he was very quick about it - & that was that. Like night & day compared to last year. The inspection was great & thorough, well-explained, & included minor maintenance like ensuring all connections were tight & the unit was clean. At all times, Daniel was pleasant and very professional. An excellent experience. I'd recommend ACLV to anyone, & when we do finally replace the AC unit, they'll be the first company I call.
