| - I absolutely DO NOT recommend ALMADA ROOFING!!! Not to be confused with Almeida Roofing, who I have not used but has a good reputation. I believe Roofer Gilbert Almada created a name so similar to a reputable company to confuse consumers.
I'm a REALTOR® & Gilbert was referred to me by a fellow Agent. Hate to leave negative reviews, as I understand how important they are to any business. However I feel strongly people should know when companies need to be exposed. I'm a reasonable person & it takes a very negative experience to cause me to write a review such as this.
My husband & I received several quotes for roof repairs while we were in escrow to sell our home. Decided to use Gilbert since he came recommended & quoted a few hundred less than other companies. Unfortunately savings was not worth it, as he was a NIGHTMARE to work with!
Hired Gilbert on 12/14/16 & made mistake of providing substantial deposit up front, as he promised to begin work later that week... Then said the following week on 12/20 due to chance of rain. Said deposit was only way he'd schedule appt & order needed supplies. Sounded reasonable at first... But soon we regretted decision & felt stuck with him.
He was a no show on 12/20 & we could not get ahold of him... We were nervous! Reached him next day, stated his phone had been stolen. Claimed there was chance of rain & would come on 12/23... There was another chance of rain, which we understood... But were anxious b/c we'd already provided deposit with nothing to show for it. Plus my instincts were telling me something wasn't right.
Gilbert was once again a no show 2 days in a row 12/26 & 12/27, stating none of his guys showed up for work! Offered a $100 discount when I expressed concern. Finally came over to begin job on 12/28. We went to work soon after they arrived around 10am. I came home before 2pm & they were gone less than 3 hours later!
Didn't receive follow up communication that day as promised. Had difficulty getting ahold of him. Finally scheduled next appt to cont work on 12/30 at 8:00 a.m. Texted to let me know he was running late & should be there at 9:30.
My husband & I were both frustrated with lack of communication & progress. My husband called Gilbert day he was "running late". Told my husband he wouldn't be able to make it after all. My husband became upset, demanding he either complete work on schedule or return deposit & we'd go elsewhere with our business.
Followed up with a call to Gilbert after he texted me cursing! Told me my husband was rude & decided not to finish job. Was listening to their conversation & it was a bit harsh, but seemed necessary at that point since we seemed to be getting nowhere being polite. Gilbert claimed he'd already done $1,000 worth of work in the less than 3 hours he'd been there on 12/28.
I sucked it up & played nice in order to convince Gilbert to complete work. Came back on 12/31, worked for a few more hours, showed me pictures of completed work, told me he'd email me pictures & final invoice later that day. Made mistake of paying him remainder of what was owed before obtaining invoice.
By 1/2/17 still hadn't received pictures or final invoice & could not get ahold of Gilbert until 1/4. Stated his phone was stolen AGAIN with pictures on it. Told him he needed to come back over to take more pictures & provide invoice as promised a week ago! On 1/6 said he'd have it to me by end of day... Still didn't have it by 1/9 & he was missing again all weekend... I was beside myself!
Gilbert finally contacted me on 1/10. Sent invoice with NO explanations with new pictures. Wouldn't leave him alone... He finally provided as near a satisfactory invoice as I was going to get THIRD time around after I literally spelled out what needed to be explained. Looked unprofessional & was still was not as promised!
The unprofessionalism, lack of communication throughout process, failing to fulfill promises, & fact that it was like pulling teeth the whole way through are why I say BUYER BEWARE of this one!!!
