Scarpetta is certainly not an inexpensive meal, but it is well worth the price. The dining experience was wonderful. We had excellent service, great ambience, and the food was unique and delicious.
After ordering a nice bottle of wine we started the meal with appetizers. I ordered the Salumi platter (italian meats) and was thoroughly impressed (although I did not enjoy the Lardo) by the variety of meats served. My wife had the beat salad and it was remarkably different that your typical beat salad and she loved it. Next we shared an order of the Cassinoi (sp?) pasta. It was homemade and tasted so. Tiny pasta dumplings stuffed in a light sauce...an excellent primi course. Next we both ordered mains. I had the Tenderloin in the Foie Gras reduction and my wife ordered a main course size version of the Polenta appetizer. Both were fantastic. Also, the bread at the begging is excellent, especially the bread laced with prosciutto.
We won't be eating here regularly, but for another special evening out, we will definitely return. I highly recommend Scarpetta for anyone looking for a fantastic meal.
