| - We came here for my honey's birthday brunch as he read great reviews about this restaurant. When we were greeted by our server, I asked her if she could do something special for a birthday. Her immediate response was not "Thank you for coming to celebrate with us or Happy Birthday" but instead it was a blunt - "We do not give free dessert." Ummm.... really?! Did I ask for free?! I gave her a disgusted look and said, could the kitchen put a candle or something on a creme brulee or cake?! She didn't even apologized for her tactless comment and simply said, "We can write Happy Birthday on the plate." I replied and told her, "Yes, will you please ask the chef to do that after our brunch?" and she smiled (finally!) and said she'll be back to take our order. After what seems like forever, she came back and took our order. She recommended the Hunter's Waffle, which I ended up getting. Sad to say, Michael Mina would have been disappointed at the dried, tasteless meat that was supposed to be "duck confit". I never add salt to my meal, but I had no choice this time to give it some flavor! I tried to catch our server's attention to let her know but she was no where to be found. We tried to flag down other servers but all of them seem to have their eyes trained on looking down on the floor or tables -- and not on customers. Granted -- it was a Saturday and they were busy but seriously, I was NOT impressed by the slow service -- or should I say the lack of service. The only reason I gave this place a 2 star is because my honey's beef short ribs croissant benedicts was tasty. Overall -- a truly disappointing dining experience...
