The renovation looks good but the food is awful. If you're looking for bad food and bad service in a good looking buffet, this place will work for you.
I went to the renovated buffet the week they opened. While the food was disappointing, there were a few items that were edible and I thought it showed promise. I went back today and I could barely find anything worth eating. Anything that cost more than a few pennies to slop up was removed since their grand opening.
They raised prices but lowered their food quality with the reopening.
In just a week food quality has fallen dramatically. If they keep this up they will just be serving ten versions of potatoes and twenty variations of cabbage and some rice with nothing else soon. Instead of crispy fried chicken they had frozen pre-fried chicken wings which were cold, soggy and disgusting. Instead of a rich oxtail stew they had dried out "roasted" sweet potatoes. The clams and mussels were replaced with shells that were pretty much devoid of anything else. Their BBQ ribs were so over cooked and dry they were worse than jerky.
Service was terrible as well. Waitress was very nice but she could not keep up with all her tables and our dishes were piled high and sitting there throughout the meal.
It's such bad management to invest so much money and effort into creating a gorgeous new buffet only to ruin it by basically serving reheated the cheapest frozen foods out of some deep discount food warehouse. I was really looking forward to this new buffet and utterly disappointed. My review may be a bit harsh and overly critical but Ii really want management to fix this buffet. There is so much potential to have a destination worthy buffet at the Orleans.
I hope management rethinks their strategy and decides they should do better ... it's hard to do worse.
