| - What an amazing car purchase experience! Let me tell you! I'm gonna start by saying that reading dealership reviews of many different dealerships, Hyundai primarily I was a tad afraid of the customer journey that was ahead of me. I really wanted to get a Hyundai Veloster, but after reading what people wrote about other Hyundai dealerships around the GTA, I was apprehensive at best.
Upon my first arrival at Hyundai Oakville, I was greeted immediately and in an exceptionally friendly way. (I went to other dealerships like Subaru in the same neighborhood and was left wandering around without so much as an acknowledgement from any of the many employees that looked like they weren't doing anything). I was introduced to my Sales Rep/Relationship Manager (which an incredibly suitable title for the relationship he fostered) Mark Calvitto, telling him that I was there PURELY for discovery! Mark was friendly, enthusiastic, warm and welcoming right from the get-go. Sure some could say "but he's a salesman, that's a part of his schtick!". But that's exactly what I look for in someone I'm about to spend a rather large sum of cash with - Someone who comes off like he cares about the potential client without being sure that they are even going to purchase.
We discussed my wants and needs (a shiny pacific blue Veloster Tech) and the options that came with it as well as the options for leasing and financing. There was no pressure, he gave me the pricing for the SE, the Tech and jokingly the pricing for the Turbo Rally edition (with his grin and to quote him " and because I'm a salesman, here's Turbo pricing...", which truth be told I was tempted to get because who wouldn't want the top of the line of the car they really want. But he knew the Tech suited all of my immediate needs and that was our focus.
I left with the spec sheet and the pricing and said that I'll be back within a week or two if I wanted to discuss making a purchase.
Over the next couple of weeks I decided that the Veloster is what I wanted to go with and had plans to go in on Monday, March 14, 2016 to get the process moving for I needed my new car in a very short timeframe for my new job just a week later.
Oddly enough I was sitting eating breakfast on that Monday morning and was planning on going to go in right after to get the purchasing process moving when I received a follow up call from Mark asking me if I was interested in coming by for a test drive. (I LOVE a sales rep who follows up. It says a lot about their determination and work ethic)
Even as a 37 year old man, I brought my mother in to tag along because well, she's a shark and would help me get through that car salesman vs beer salesman duel that was about to ensue making sure that all questions were asked, answered and of course to ask for a better deal with her old lady sweetness... Haha. Which he did provide. Mark offered us one to take on a ride while he got everything prepared. So I took off for about an hour and I fell in love with that car even more!
Like I said, I needed the car in my possession in less than 7 days, which is usually pretty difficult to achieve. Especially since I needed to get some tweeks made to it (tinting, rust proofing etc). As luck would have it, they had the exact one that I was looking to purchase in their compound. Mark was a little concerned about the timeframe to get the extras completed but did some investigation and said that he would do everything in his power to get it to me within the week, saying that even if he couldn't make good on that promise that he would get me a loaner so that I could make it to my first day of work. THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHAT A CUSTOMER CHAMPION DOES! He took my needs seriously and promised what it took to make me happy!
The next day (Tues) I received a call in the afternoon. It was Mark letting me know he got my car bumped up in the service list and that although I won't be able to put the windows down because I had to let the tint set still, my car will be ready for pickup on Wednesday at 4pm. 2 DAYS FROM PURCHASE WITH THE WORK I NEEDED DONE ON IT!? Are you kidding me!? That's AMAZING! I can't even tell you how excited & impressed I was!
I showed up on Wednesday at 4pm and sitting there in the lot was my new toy! And let me tell you how damn good it looked! Glistening in the sun, a beautiful tint job done just waiting for me to get in and drive it home!
Mark greeted me with a smile and brought me to get the final contracts signed (walking me thru EVERYTHING carefully). Presented my keys, took me to the service area to show me the servicing process and then walked me out to the car (full tank of gas) got in and showed me how everything worked inside. After that, we said our thanks goodbyes and I was off!
From start to end, BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE I could've possibly gotten. If you want a great car AND customer experience DEFINITELY ASK FOR MARK CALVITTO!
THANKS MARK! Hyundai Oakville is lucky to have you!
