Looking for a great manicure in Aurora? Keep looking.
Hands down the worst manicure I've had. I am yet to find a nail spa in Aurora that isn't a stereotypical strip-mall-type place. I thought Bluberi would be better, but alas, no.
The atmosphere is very dated and sloppy looking, especially the manicure area at the front which is right next to the door. It's awfully chilly as people are coming and going often. It was very uncomfortable, as the technicians are unfriendly and most barely speak English.
I went for a French shellac manicure and made an appointment in advance. When I arrived there was no one ready so one of the girls who was already working on someone else's nails stopped working on her to come over to soak my previous shellac off. She foiled my nails and went back to work on the other lady. I sat there for 25 minutes with my nails wrapped in nail polish remover! My cuticles were burning and I had to go fetch someone to come to take it off.
When she did my nails, there was no evidence the tools had been cleaned. They were sitting on the table when I arrived. She used Opi shellac in "Bubble Bath" which was the perfect colour for me. However, she made the white part about 2mm...I had to ask her 3 times to make it wider (and I don't wear them thick) and they ended up all uneven lengths. She used only one base coat, one coat of colour (plus the white tips) and one top coat. This is the least I've ever seen anyone do.
Four days after my manicure, 3 nails began to peel and by the end of the week I had SIX broken nails. I haven't had a broken nail in years! I suspect the 25 minute polish removal had something to do with it.
Aurora continues to fail at having a modern, high standard spa service. This place definitely fits the strip mall nail spa stereotype :(
Bottom line: I will continue to trek downtown to Toronto to have my spa needs met. For nails specifically, I am loyal to a place where I pay a lot more but the technicians are amazing and they use Artistic brand shellac...the stuff is like armour.
I won't be trying them again primarily due to the damage to my nails and poor quality of the manicure.
