Honestly - I've been chasing the "BBQ Fever" here in Charlotte for a little over a year now. This joint did not disappoint.
Can you say full immersion vintage- this place looks like someone literally left it untouched since the mid 60's or 70's. It was awesome. An absolute drive in- you and dozens of other cars rally yourself's in spaces hoping to get close enough the first time to press the button on the intercom to order. Again - Awesome.
The menu was a bit difficult to navigate at first.... the burgers are situated directly in the middle - so you can be swayed to ordering ( not what they are famous for)
The BBQ Plate- The BBQ Dinner either one is downright amazing.
Because I am not a big BBQ pulled pork person - I opted for the BBQ Chicken... and its just plain fantastic!!! Its fried and splattered with a tangy home style BBQ sauce. The best of both worlds.. fried chicken and BBQ sauce in one deal.
The sides paired well. the coleslaw had a nice bite and crunch (although it got stuck to the bottom of the cup and I couldn't finish it) HUSH PUPPIES were huge and they were so dang flavorful... I seriously will be back !!!
I also had a Chocolate Shake.... they has missed the boat on this one...
