A really cool new attraction has opened up in Downtown Markham: the Pride of Canada Carousel. Available just in time for Canada Day, this unique solar powered carousel featuring many symbols of Canadiana is intended to be the focal point for Downtown Markham. Some of the stereotypical sculptural images include a moose, a canoe, a beaver, a Mountie, as well as some whimsical additions like a a dog in a bathtub, a flying pig, and a mermaid. It is really cool that materials have been recycled and repurposed from across Canada for the carousel.
There is limited parking in the lot just north of the carousel. Otherwise one could walk from the parking area at the nearby cinemas.
Rides are free on Canada Day. Starting July 2, tickets will be $2 per ride which is really reasonable. This carousel is certain to excite the inner kid in the young and the young at heart.
