  • New Exhibit: The Island at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium By Ed Skirtich In a clear, tiny pool of water, a Philipine crocodile remained still, clouded leopards hung on tree branches underneath green leaves, and a galapogas tortoise remained inside his tiny house on a hot afternoon in July. These activities happened at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG aquarium's new exhibit, The Islands. These animals are rarely seen at zoos and it makes this exhibit unique. It fascinated all the zoo visitors. Inside a building at The Island visitors saw fossils such as a decorated crab and pallas pit viper. Also at this building kids operated on a tiger and learned about careers at the zoo that was listed on a big poster. Trainers, zoo keepers, animal doctors, and animal feeders were some of the careers listed.
