| - I would give this place four stars for the great rooms, fun pool area, and courteous staff, BUT their front desk staffing is WILDLY INADEQUATE! Yes, I meant to use all caps there--this issue needs to be addressed.
Arriving after midnight, with a wiped-out child in tow, it was simply unacceptable to wait 40 minutes in line in order to get the keys to the room we had prepaid for weeks earlier. What could possibly take them so long? Do they even have computers? They spent ten minutes with each guest checking in; what were they doing, chiseling the contract on stone tablets?
Then, once in our room (which was beautifully furnished and very clean), we discovered that they had provided us with only one bed, despite a reservation for two. A call to the front desk got it resolved with a rollaway, which would have been fine except for the 30 minutes spent on hold! Seriously, 30 minutes just to talk to someone (who, again, was very nice). The actual rollaway delivery happened within five minutes, so no knock on housekeeping. The problem was strictly with the staffing level at the front desk--they were overwhelmed.
Seriously, the rooms are great, the pool is great, the restaurants are fine, but the front desk staffing renders it nearly unusable for a short trip. We were only stopping for one night/morning, so we spent nearly 10% of our time there waiting for front desk staff to be available. If this is some kind of weird business strategy, I'd love to have it explained. More likely someone's idiot son-in-law has been put in charge of staffing the desk and has decided to cut costs by reducing staffing levels; if so, they have not only cut costs, but also cut this visitor from ever returning. It's a beautiful property, but it's just not worth enduring the wait.
