First off, my girlfriend and I went on a Thursday night and I took advantage of their buck-a-shuck special. The oysters I got to start that night were the oysters from the west coast and were quite delectable. We also got bacon-not-wrapped scallops. Both she and I have had scallops from many places, and from the cooked scallops we've had we would both rate it 4/5. Only reason being that in comparison to Maine scallops, which are absolutely ah-mazing, it fell just short.
For entrees she had flat iron wagyu done medium rare. She described it as 'melt-in-your-mouth' delicious and very smooth. I myself got the wet-aged filet done blue rare. And let me say this, our server was fantastic that night in helping me choose the right cut for something done blue rare. He was knowledgeable about their origins and informative in the best and helpful way. The staff were all easy going and friendly but our server that night really went the extra mile and made our night enjoyable and memorable.
For drinks I started with their modern signature Caesar, I can't say there was much memorable or anything that stood out, although I did note it was a tad spicier than I would have liked. Next time I would like to try their other Caesar's though as they do seem to have quite a selection. Next I had their Singapore Sling which I did enjoy more than the prior, but it's definitely quite a drink with a hefty kick for sure!
Overall, both of us loved our stay at Modern Steak and we plan to make this 'our place' in Calgary when she is back to visit!
