  • ************* REVIEW 95 **************** If you haven't been to neither Masa or BarMasa at the AOL/Time Warner in NYC, you will feel that this sushi spot is overpriced. However, if you admire Chef Masa Takayama in NYC with his Omakase style at Masa or the 26 seats BarMasa, you will appreciate the type of freshness fishes & ingredients he brought here to Aria. I've been to both places in NY & at Masa there, the chef doesn't allow pictures taken when I was there a few years back. At this place, I'm allowed to take pictures, so that's a big step! The inviting door with red illuminating lighting was really nice, via left takes us to the spacious dining area which I was at shocked kept staring at the architecture, unsure whether or not I like it! It reminds me of airplane hangar. It wasn't warm at all as I was imagined. The architect and designed like the rest of Aria hotel was quiet futuristic for my taste. And to compare this & his NY spot, this place missing the cozy, intimate, & warm feeling. The food was on point, just as good as the one in NYC. Pricing is the same as well. These dishes I highly recommend: - Sizzling Spicy Octopus with black trumpet mushroom $28 - a nice dish with a light subtle spicy kick to it. - Tai Sea Bream with black truffle - Summer Truffles 5 pcs $48. Really refreshing dish, exquisite. - Kobe Garlic Soy Steak $68 - 9 pcs sliced nicely perfectly pink inside & warm outside on the iron plate - this was so an awesome treat! - Seasonal Sushi Tasting $98 - 13 pcs from Japan & you can't get any bettter quality of sushi than this. & also coems with 3 pieces of Tekkamaki Tuna roll, & 3 pieces of Kappamaki Cucumber roll 1. Sake salmon, scottish king 2. Toro fatty tuna, boston blue fin 3. Hirame fluke, wakayama, japan 4. Hamachi young yellowtail, kyushu, japan 5. Kanpachi amber jack, shikoku island, japan 6. Shimaaji island jack fish, wakayama, japan - the shiniest fish! I love it! 7. Aji horse mackerel, chiba, japan 8. Amaebi sweet shrimp, ishikawa, japan 9. Mirugai giant clam, chiba, japan 10. Amadai tile fish, chiba, japan 11. Hokkaido Scallops hokkaido japan 12. Seguro baby anchovy, chiba, japan 13. Saba mackerel, miyagi, japan Food was as fresh as it can get, the service was a bit off. Our server was very nice, but when i asked him 3 different time of certain ingredients where they came from; he didn't know the answer. I wish he would wen tot eh kitchen to ask the chef & came back. Instead of told us he didn't know right away! This wouldn't never happens in NY location. Although he was very attentive to us. Chef Masa Takayama was in town this past weekend, but he left by the time we got there. Note: Also @ shaboo it was $500 for Omakase, it went down to $300 on Friday 4/16/10 to attract more diners I'm sure.
