I have not been to THIS location until recently, which is shocking since cupcakes are like crack to me and I work so close to this place but after a year or so of being open I finally got around to it. This was all because of an email alert I received from PGB informing me that the flavor of the week was "neopolitan" with a photo of a glorious looking cupcake attached to the email. First of all Neopolitan is my childhood favorite ice cream and applying that concept to a cupcake is like making a junk food addict's dream come true. So I had to try it.
One of the reasons I avoided this location was because of the long lineups that it usually has during my lunch break. The time I went (1130ish) was a good time to go (I guess people need to eat real food at some point as opposed to eating cupcakes ALL day). There was no lineup and I was served immediately. The lady that served me was nice and friendly. I asked for a regular size cupcake but she gave me a mini instead. I would have corrected her but I figured I should probably stick to a mini or else my pants might get mad at me. It cost $2.25 which is pretty steep considering the size of this miniature snack but the taste is heavenly.
The cake itself was a chocolate cake, incredibly moist and chocolatey topped with a layer of strawberry icing (fresh strawberries!), vanilla bean icing, and chocolate icing. It was so rich and intense in flavor I was actually grateful that I got the mini vs the regular because I think it would have been too sweet if it was a larger portion.
Overall, I really enjoyed this treat of the week...in a mini size. I am still a fan of this cupcakery and their sweet creations, but just in smaller doses.
