DO NOT GIVE THIS COURSE A CHANCE!!!
My brother and I are making a list of golf courses in Charlotte and checking them off as we go. I read the reviews and was discouraged, but I'll try any course once.
So, the first impression was pretty bad. As you arrive to the location there's a large sign advertising their bar and restaurant, but no visible sign for the golf course itself. I found that to be odd. When you're looking for a parking space you can't help but notice the facilities are in an obvious state of disrepair. Their signage was damaged and missing letters. The parking lot had trash all over and large portions of weeds growing out. All signs that the place is generally not maintained.
Then comes the customer service which was seriously offensive it was so bad. The "pro shop" (a minor selection of balls and maybe a couple of ball caps) almost felt like it was under a permanent state of construction it was so shoddy. The cashier was an older guy who made it crystal clear from the moment we walked in the room that we were interrupting him and he was not interested in serving us. I noticed that the bar and grill had a nice selection of beers on tap and left me looking forward to the turn.
The driving range had lousy equipment and the range was in a state of disrepair, but hey - at least they have a range. The putting green was in pretty good shape, but the chipping area looked like it hasn't been maintained in years.
As we approached the first tee we noticed a kicked over trash can with trash all over the ground, but the course itself was in pretty decent shape. The course plays pretty tough, but it was a fun challenge. Lots of undulations on the greens and great setups on the approach shots. Here's the problem with the course. We didn't see a ranger once all day. The front nine took us 3.5 hours. Clearly there was a group two or more in front of us that were going incredibly slow. We were stacked up two or three groups on every tee box.
At the turn we met the bartender which sent shivers down my spine with the lack of professionalism/appearance... I love watching a bartender pick her nose while making my hot dog and pouring my beer. The hot dog was disgusting and the beer flat and warm.
On the back nine we got to hole 15 (5.5 hours into our experience) and we threw in the towel. It's the first time I've ever gave up and just left the course it was so bad. When I read previous reviews that say don't bother with the place - I wish I had taken that advice. Until they get new ownership, I'll not go back and recommend you don't either.
