We happened to be there early - a 5:30 reservation. We had been at an event in the afternoon and decided on an early dinner out rather than going home and coming back.
A relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. And what a pleasant surprise - happy hour on the weekend too! And it included your entire bill, 30% off before 6pm. We got our order placed and soon enjoyed not only a discounted meal and bottle of wine but also a delicious one.
The four of us shared the stuffed figs. What an amazing treat. We all opted for small plates and the portion was a perfect, "normal" food size. It also allowed us to enjoy a salad or soup, entre and even dessert. All were amazing. My grilled romaine salad was nicely done though I didn't care for the crunchy onions on the top. Others had the soup for the day, a very spicy Bloody Mary soup, the peach salad and cheese platter. All were well received.
The others all had the scallops and they must have been delicious because no one offered me a bite! My lamb served on polenta with an olive relish was so good, I never offered them any either!
Because we hadn't over indulged, dessert was ordered. The panna cotta special was so good we were later searching for a recipe.
We were visiting Madison. The locals we were with had never been to 43 North either. We will insist on coming again and they were so pleasantly surprised that they are putting it in their regular list of places to eat!
