| - I was born and raised in North Carolina, so when I talk about BBQ I know what I'm talking about; also, I'm only talking about true BBQ (if it didn't go oink, it ain't BBQ). This is one of only 2 places in AZ that live up to my standards, and I've tried dozens of BBQ places in the valley.
The BBQ (pulled pork) is really good.
The cold slaw is great.
The Collard Greens have a nice sweet vinegar flavor.
The beef is ok, not bad, but not as good as Rudy's.
The chicken is awesome as is the Turkey if you're in the mood for something different.
The cornbread is moist and delicious.
One of the best things about this place is there selection of 4 sauces, one for each type of meat (oink oink, moo moo, cluck cluck, & their sausage links).
However, and here's why it only gets 4 stars, the decor and location make no sense for the menu. The decor is nice, quaint, and Hipster. Totally appropriate for the middle of the historic Coronado neighborhood. But the menu is not. Move this restaurant a half mile south into an abandoned fast food joint and their business would triple.
Lastly, this is the kind of place where your order, pay, sit, and then get your food; which is not ideal if your meeting for drinks as you'll have to pay multiple times.
